A partnership to enhance agricultural innovation and development

Farmers from Tanzania and Zambia can now differentiate between diseases and insect pests that attack their crops.

During the implementation of a MKTPlace project (ID1298) at least 1500 small-scale soybean farmers were involved and trained in the sentinel plots – diseases monitoring plots technology. Through this technology, farmers were able to timely apply disease and insect pests control measures leading to better yields.

A total of 40 extension officers were trained in Tanzania and Zambia, within the project period, and now more than 1500 farmers are using the monitoring plots concept in management of soybean disease.
